25-member delegation of ‘Mukti Joddhas’ of Bangladesh on a 3-day visit to Guwahati & Shillong
The visit is part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations
July 19: A 25-member delegation of Mukti Joddhas of Bangladesh arrived in Assam on Tuesday, who are on a 3-day visit to Guwahati & Shillong. The visit is part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations organised by High Commission of India in Bangladesh & Act East Policy Affairs, Government of Assam.
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed 25-member delegation of Mukti Joddhas of Bangladesh who are on a 3-day visit to Guwahati and Shillong at State Guest House, Koinadhora in Guwahati on Tuesday.

The Bangladesh Liberation War was a landmark event where nine valiant soldiers from Assam made the supreme sacrifice. Some Assam Police officers trained and equipped Mukti Bahini members. The civil society of Assam also came forward to help the refugees who had then come to Assam from East Bengal.
The Chief Minister further stated, “Also, happy to receive an invitation from Hon’ble Foreign Minister of Bangladesh AK Abdul Momen to visit the country. I will make sincere efforts to honour the invitation to give a further push to civilisational ties between India and Bangladesh.”
