230 media persons & their family vaccinated in a camp organised by dist administration in Silchar
179 Covaxin and 51 Covishield vaccines were administered
May 12: A Covid Vaccination Camp for journalists and their family members was organised by the District Administration Cachar in collaboration with “working journalists” at the conference hall of Cachar Zila Parishad here on Wednesday. At the outset, in-charge Deputy Director of Information & Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Assam, Sajjadul Haque Chowdhury welcomed all the journalists participating in the vaccination camp.
A total of 230 people were administered Covid vaccine in the camp in accordance with the Covid protocol. MLA of Silchar, Dipayan Chakraborty was also present during the occasion and said that from the very beginning of the corona pandemic, journalists have been risking their lives to fulfill their responsibilities as frontline workers. He appreciated the efforts taken by District Administration Cachar for organising a vaccination camp for the journalists and their family members. He also appealed to the public to follow the Covid guidelines set up by the Government.
While addressing the media persons, Deputy Commissioner Cachar Keerthi Jalli said, “As journalists are also the frontline workers, special arrangements has been made to administer them Covid vaccine as per protocol. The district has a large population, so everyone will be administered Covid vaccine in phases, The medical team is also working hard to make the vaccine available to the public in a systematic way, as the covid vaccine is coming in a phased approach”. She further said that as it was not possible to provide vaccines to everyone in this camp, so another vaccination camp will be set up soon. DC Jalli thanked all the journalists for conducting the vaccination camp smoothly.
Gautam Talukder, Joint Secretary of Silchar Press Club, said that the Covid vaccination camp was organized for the first time for the journalists and their family members under the aegis of District Administration Cachar and in collaboration with working journalists. He appreciated the initiative taken by the Deputy Commissioner Cachar.
It’s worth mentioning that on the vaccination camp held on Wednesday 179 covaxin and 51 covishield vaccines were administered to the journalists and their family members.
Media Super Convener Ranu Dutta, Biswajit Acharya, Ajit Das, Nilkamal Das, Debdulal Malakar, Press Club Treasurer Chinmoy Nath, President Riten Bhattacharya, Former President Anirban Jyoti Gupta and Kinkar Das were present at the camp.
