230 found Covid +ve in Cachar on 6 May; 1 death at SMCH

Active cases 797 in Cachar

May 6:  A total of 230 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Thursday in Cachar. During the day, 1,605 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, a total of 96 persons were found positive, whereas 134 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Thursday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus cases in 2021 has gone upto 2,108 . Again, 1,309 patients in this year were cured and discharged. It was informed that from now onwards, the District Health Department will provide the data only for the second wave of Covid-19. At present, there are 797 active cases in the district.

Further, during the day, 252 air passengers who arrived at Silchar Airport were tested at Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital at Tikal on Thursday, out of which, 2 were found to be positive. It needs mention here that on Wednesday, 186 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.

Apart from this Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed informed that out of the 797 active patients, 145 of them are admitted at SMCH, 09 in MH, 11 at SMDCH, 28 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital, 05 at CRPF Doyapur, 20 at Gracewell Nursing Home. and 9 at Cachar Cancer Hospital. Further, 569 patients are in home isolation.

In a tragic turn of events, Assistant Professor of Bengali of Women’s College, Silchar, Dr Jayati Chakraborty (48) breathed her last at 6.15 PM on 6 May, 2021 at SMCH. She was detected Covid positive on 26 April and since then she was at SMCH. As per protocol, the death details have been forwarded to the State Death Audit Board in Guwahati for final certification of Covid or non-Covid death.
