23 tests +ve in Cachar on Sunday; 1 more death registered at SMCH
Active cases 153 in Cachar
Dec. 5: On Sunday, a total of 23 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 620 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 19 persons were found positive, whereas 04 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Sunday night.
With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 10,995. Further, a total of 10,807 patients were discharged in the district as of now. Cachar registered a total of 37 COVID-19 deaths till now. At present, there are 151 active cases in the district. It needs mention here that 23 persons were found positive in Cachar on Saturday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Sunday said that in the last 24 hours, Throat swab of another 388 persons were collected. 299 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 03 tested positive. Further, 142 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 05 were found positive.
Apart from this, 02 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 02 were discharged. At present, there are 24 active patients at SMCH, out of which 04 are critical. The patients who are at present in critical condition are: Mina Rani Devi, Taposhi Acharjee, Karuna Sindhu Deb and Priyo Kr Singha. A total of 09 patients are admitted in ICU, whereas 06 of them are put under oxygen support and 02 of them are kept in ventilator support.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 01 patients have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. The deceased was identified as Renu Mal, who was in critical stage at SMCH since last few days. As of now, there were 174 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 174 deaths, 63 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
