223 detected Covid +ve in Cachar till 7 PM on Sunday, 8 dies at SMCH
May 23: A total of 223 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 7 PM on Sunday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 2,089 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 223 were found positive, whereas 10 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Sunday late evening. It needs mention here that on Saturday, 630 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 08 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 08 deceased, 06 are from Cachar district, 01 each from Hailakandi and Karimganj.
The deceased were identified as: Mintu Deb (60) from Tarapur (2md Gate), Silchar, Sarifa Khanan Barbhuiya (65) from Dubag in Cachar district, Nirod Roy (65) from Harishnagar in Hailakandi district, Pradip Mura (45) from Kumba in Cachar, Priti Deb (52) from Nivea in Karimganj district, Mahendra Singh (56) from Tarapur, Silchar, Mangal Das (63) from Tarapur, Silchar and Mukul Mandol (57) from Mazumder Lane, Rongpur, Silchar.
