220 Covid hotspots identified in Assam; New SOP on 26 June
June 25: Though the number of daily Covid-19 cases are on a decreasing trend in Assam, yet there are some areas from where till now fresh cases are emerging in considerable number. Deliberating on this issue, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday evening said that the state government has identified around 220 Covid hotspots from around 14 districts in Assam. The government may establish containment zones in certain COVID-19 hotspot locations.
“Till now, we have not considered taking resort of lockdown in these districts. We are deciding to declare containment zones in these hotspots,” stated the Chief Minister. A concrete decision would be taken only after reviewing the complete situation across all districts. A discussion with the Deputy Commissioners via video conferencing is likely to take place on Friday, which would be chaired by the Chief Minister.
As per sources, the state government is supposed to release a new Covid Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on 26 June. The Chief Minister also stated that more relaxations will be announced in those districts where the daily cases have decreased considerably.
