2179 tests +ve in Assam on Wednesday including 136 in Cachar, tally rises to 96,771

August 26: On Wednesday, 2179 new cases of COVID-19 were detected from various parts of Assam. With this, a total of 96,771 positive cases were detected as of now in the state, out of which, 21,680 are active cases. Cachar district registered 136 positive cases during the day. In a tweet, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Alert ~ 2179 #COVID cases detected today out of 36225 tests done in last 24 hours Positivity Rate- 6.01% Kamrup M- 531, Dibrugarh- 152, Cachar- 136, Jorhat- 134, Kamrup R- 122.”

Further, 14 more cases of deaths due to COVID-19 were reported in Assam. The death tally of the state has now gone upto 274.
