216 persons test Covid-19 +ve in Cachar till 7 PM on Thursday; 2 dies at SMCH

11 air passengers detected positive on Thursday

May 13:  A total of 216 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 7.00 PM on Thursday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 205 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT), whereas 11 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Thursday evening.

Further, during the day, 263 air passengers arrived at Silchar Airport, who did Covid test at Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital, Tikal, wherein 11 of them were found positive. It needs mention here that on Wednesday, 370 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.

 

Dr. Bhaskar Gupta further informed that a total of 192 active coronavirus patients are admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), out of which, 153 of them are in Covid ward and 39 at ICU. Out of them 109 patients are in oxygen support and 14 are in ventilation. In last 24 hours, 23 new patients were admitted whereas, 15 of them were discharged at SMCH. Further, 50 patients opted for home isolation.

Thursday witnessed demise of two more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 02 deceased at SMCH on 13 May, 01 of them is from Karimganj district, while the other is from Hailakandi. The deceased were identified as: Rijiya Begum Barbhuiya (45) from Algapur in Hailakandi district and P.K. Bhattacharjee (68) from Badarpur in Karimganj district
