2116 persons tests +ve in Assam including 190 in Cachar, state tally goes upto 84,317

August 19: On Wednesday, 2116 persons tested COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus cases has gone upto 84,317, out of which, 25,807 are active. Cachar district alone registered 190 new positive cases during the day. In a tweet, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote,”Alert ~ 2116 #COVID cases detected today out of 40389 tests done in last 24 hours Positivity Rate- 5.23% Kamrup (M)- 311, Cachar- 190, Dinrugarh-174, Jorhat- 125.”

Further, 10 more persons succumbed to COVID-19 in Assam, thereby taking the death tally of the state to 213.
