‘2021 passed out candidates are not eligible,’ mentions a job ad by HDFC Bank; later clarifies

Aug 5: A recent job advertisement by the HDFC Bank for hiring branch sales officers in Tamil Nadu read: ‘2021 passed out candidates are not eligible’. Soon this advertisement raised a storm in social media. At a time when those who graduated in 2021 (after an entire year of online classes during the pandemic) are anxious about their career prospects, the newspaper advertisement carried by HDFC Bank has been severely criticised by the netizens.

Soon after the ad was shared on social media, the bank issued a clarification saying, “This is a typo and we regret the error. Graduates can apply irrespective of the year of passing as long as they meet the age criteria. We have already issued the corrected advertisement.”

The latest copy of the advertisement invites Graduates for Walk-in interviews for the role of Branch Sales Officer and mentions that “2021 passed out candidates are also eligible”.
