2 more Covid-19 patients including a 8-year-old child die at SMCH in last 24 hours
50 patients in ICU, 19 in ventilator support & 81 put under oxygen at SMCH
July 3: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 2 July to 5 PM on 3 July) witnessed demise of 02 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the two deceased, one of them is from Cachar, while the other is from Hailakandi . The deceased were identified as:
- Nur Islam Laskar (08) from Sheralipur in Hailakandi district was admitted at SMCH on 1 July. The child, however, passed away at 7.50 PM on 2 July.
- Salehuddinraj Khan (74) from Nagatilla in Cachar district took admission in SMCH on 30 June. He breathed his last at 8.50 PM on 2 July.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 3 July, there were 110 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 50 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 60 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 19 patients were put under ventilator support and 81 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 20 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 12 of them were discharged.
