2 killed in a grenade blast in Digboi; CM orders police chief to take stern action

May 14: A grenade blast took place at Tingrai market of Digboi in Tinsukia district of Assam, in which two persons lost their lives. As per reports, two motorcycle-borne miscreants lobbed the grenade in front of a hardware shop owned by a person of Agarwala surname. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma expressed deep concern over the grenade blast by miscreants at Tingrai market of Digboi. Chief Minister ordered the Chief of Police to take strict action against the miscreants.

Home Minister Amit Shah too expressed his condolence at the death of two persons in the blast. Sharing this information, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Hon HM Sri @AmitShah called me to enquire about grenade blast at Tingrai Market in Tinsukia District. He condoled death of two civilians. I apprised HM on the matter and informed that @assampolice has been asked to take stern measures against perpetrators & nab them immediately.”

Meanwhile, ULFA(I) chief Paresh Baruah has denied the organisation’s involvement in the Digboi grenade explosion incident.
