2-day Bharat Bandh called on 28 & 29 March
March 27: A joint forum of central trade unions has called for a nationwide strike on Monday and Tuesday to protest against Central government policies that affect workers. The banking sector will be joining the strike, the All India Bank Employees Association said on Facebook. A number of banks, including the State Bank of India, have issued a statement informing customers that banking services may be impacted on Monday and Tuesday.
The nationwide strike means that essential services might be affected. According to the All India Trade Union Congress, the strike is expecting participation of over 20 crore workers from both the formal and informal sector.
Apart from banks, workers from various other sectors such as steel, oil, telecom, coal, postal, income tax, copper, and insurance are expected to participate in the strike. The All India Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress has extended support to the nationwide strike. However, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has announced that it will not participate in the strike.
