2 Covid-19 patients from Cachar die at SMCH in last 24 hours
95 patients in ICU, 32 in ventilator support & 148 put under oxygen at SMCH
June 4: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 4 June to 5 PM on 5 June) witnessed demise of 02 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. All the 2 deceased are from Cachar district. The deceased were identified as:
- Sujit Barman (65) from Kulicherra in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 4 June. He, however, passed away at 6 PM on 4 June.
- Kanailal Lohar (85) from Darmikhal in Cachar took admission at SMCH on 27 May. He breathed his last 2.50 PM on 5 June.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 5 June, there were 243 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 95 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 148 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 32 patients were put under ventilator support and 148 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 30 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 42 of them were discharged. Further, 40 of them have opted for home isolation.
