2.17 lakh COVID-19 tests completed by Assam Govt

June 15: It is indeed a moment of rare achievement for Assam government to be able to complete 2.17 lakh COVID-19 tests. Sharing this information, State health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet wrote, “leased to share that pursuing our policy of proactive & aggressive testing for #COVID19, Assam Govt has completed 2.17 lakh tests. We’ve been carrying out approx 10,000 tests per day after having ramped up our capacities.” The minister further extended compliments to the doctors and staff for this achievement.

At present, testing is carried on in 12 labs in the state after being approved by ICMR. Here is the list of the 12 labs in the state performing COVID-19 test:

• Mahendra Mohan Choudhary Hospital OPD
• Dhirenpara FRU
• Pandu FRU
• Ulubari Urban Hospital
• Dispur Capital Dispensary
• Khanapara State Dispensary (6th mile)
• Bhetapara State Dispensary
• Lokhra State Dispensary
• Bamuni Maidam (East Guwahati) State Dispensary
• Santipur (West Guwahati) State Dispensary
• Udalbakra MPHC

During a press briefing earlier during the week, Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that Assam Government will be testing 50,000 people in the city of Guwahati. It is only after that the state government will determine whether to impose another phase of lockdown in Guwahati.
