197 found Covid +ve in Cachar on 9 May; 2 dies at SMCH

Active cases 979 in Cachar

May 9:  A total of 197 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Sunday in Cachar. During the day, 1,477 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, a total of 86 persons were found positive, whereas 111 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Sunday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus cases in 2021 has gone upto 2,654 . Again, 1,656 patients in this year were cured and discharged.

Further, during the day, 428 air passengers who arrived at Silchar Airport were tested at Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital at Tikal on Sunday, out of which, 05 were found to be positive. It needs mention here that on Wednesday, 312 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.

Apart from This Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed informed that out of the 979 active patients:

  • 180 of them are admitted at SMCH
  • 11 in MH
  • 08 at SMDCH
  • 35 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
  • 10 at CRPF Doyapur
  • 23 at Gracewell Nursing Home
  • 09 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
  • 703 patients are in home isolation.

On Sunday, two more persons lost their lives due to Covid-19 at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Friday evening. The deceased were identified as:

  • Nitesh Ranjeb Choudhury (79) from North Tripura was admitted at SMCH in the evening on 8 May. He, however, breathed his last at 7.30 AM on 9 May, 2021.
  • Prova Das (60) from Don Bosco Lane, Ramnagar in Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 6 May. She lost her life in the battle against coronavirus at 5.30 PM on 9 May, 2021.
