181 former NLFB cadres got Rs. 2 lakh each

way2barak, Oct 21: A total of 181 former National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) cadres were provided financial grants in a distribution programme organized by the Home Department, Government of Assam, and SB Headquarters at Sri Sri Madhavadeva International Auditorium on Friday. The chief guest of the programme was BTC Chief Promod Boro. The programme was attended by Assam DGP G P Singh, ADGP Hiren Nath, MLA Ranjit Basumatary, MLA Lawrence Islary, and others. These funds were provided to the cadres to make themselves self-sufficient.

DGP G. P. Singh said, “This financial assistance will be beneficial for the former cadres as it will make them self-sufficient. Everyone is working for peace in Bodoland and will continue to do so. The Assam Police will never compromise on violence or crime. The situation that prevailed since 1991 is no longer there. No violence other than peace will be tolerated.”
“Police have taken special steps to dispose of the previous cases of the former cadres, but some cases cannot be settled for social reasons, and those cases will be reviewed. Former members should not demand or threaten any government officials in the field of business contracts, the DGP further added.

BTC Chief Promod Bodo said “Assam is moving towards 100 per cent peace, and the ones who are in militant groups are brought to the mainstream, and those who are still in those groups are asked to return to the mainstream, and efforts should be made to restore peace in Bodoland. Also, there are industries set up that will create employment for the youth.
