17 tests +ve in Cachar on Monday, district tally rises to 10,394

Active cases 111 in Cachar

Nov. 2: On Monday, a total of 17 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 2039 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 15 persons were found positive, whereas only 02 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Monday night.

With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 10,394. Further, a total of 10,246 patients were discharged in the district as of now. Cachar registered a total of 37 COVID-19 deaths till now. At present, there are 111 active cases in the district. It needs mention here that 17 persons were found positive in Cachar on Sunday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Monday said that in the last 24 hours, 220 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 306 persons were collected. 243 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, none of them tested positive. Further, 672 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 04 were found positive.

Apart from this, 03 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 02 were discharged. At present, there are 14 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 11 are admitted in ICU and 01 patient is in ventilation support. Further, 258 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 487 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 173 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 173 deaths, 63 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
