163 +ve cases detected in Cachar on Tuesday including 7 from Cancer Hospital
14 patients critical at SMCH
August 25: On Tuesday, 163 new cases of COVID-19 were detected from across Cachar district. Out of the 163 cases, 113 were detected positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas, 50 persons were found positive in RT-PCR Test. A total of 1058 Rapid Tests were done during the day. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert. Further, 1 person has died at SMCH within the last 24 hours. On Tuesday, However, till the filing of this report, only the 1st slot of results of RT-PCR was made available, wherein 14 persons were found coronavirus positive.
In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test Results, 7 persons from Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (CCHRC), Meherpur were detected positive. It needs mention here that on Monday, 13 patients of CCHRC were found positive. Prior to that, 2 doctors & 12 staff of the Cancer Hospital were tested positive. This has now became a major cause of concern both for the hospital authorities and also for the district health department. A source on condition of anonymity said that as huge number of visitors/ attendants come to see the patients, it may be possible that the virus may have spread through them. Moreover, at present, there is a huge rush of patients at CCHRC as those who used to go earlier in Mumbai, Kolkata, South India etc. for treatment are unable to move out due to the ongoing pandemic.
The 7 persons who from CCHRC who were found positive in the 1st slot are a 34-year-old male, 32-year-old female, 27-year-old male, 22-year-old female, 25-year-old male, 25-year-old female, 25-year-old male, 23-year-old female.
Apart from them, a 33-year-old male from ICCCI Bank, Cachar (As per SRF) was also found positive. He came by air from Imphal. Another physician, Dr. Alomita Paul Choudhury (29) from Jail Road, Silchar was detected as COVID-19 positive. She is symptomatic. Three more persons from the same family at Uttar Krishnapur Part-I, Lane No 7, Shivalik Park were detected corona positive. They are a 48 years old male, 42 years old female and a 19 years old female.
The details of positive cases in some more slots of RT-PCR wil be updated as and when they are made available.
