16 cases registered in Assam so far for ‘anti-national’ comments on social media

February 22: In the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack, a total of 16 cases were registered in Assam across 13 districts out of which 15 people were arrested for posting ‘anti-national’ content in social media.  Papori Z Banerjee, assistant professor of English at Icon Commerce College is absconding. This was informed by State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday.

The 44 CRPF jawans who were martyred in a suicide attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama on Thursday were returning from leave. More than 2500 CRPF personel were travelling in a convoy of 78 vehicles when a Jaish-e-Mohammad suicide bomber rammed a SUV carrying 350 kg of explosives into a bus carrying the CRPF troopers. There were no survivors in the bus.

The Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Maneshwar Basumatary, a native of Kolbari village of Tamulpur in Baksa district of Assam, attained martyrdom when terrorist attacked the CRPF convoy in Pulwama.
