15 tests Covid positive in Cachar on Tuesday, 17 discharged & 1 death at SMCH

There are 76 active cases in Cachar

Feb. 8: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually decreasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Tuesday at 8.30 PM. As per the latest data, a total of 15 persons were found positive in the district on 8 February. Also, 17 patients were discharged (13 from home & 04 from hospital) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has gone down to 76, out of which, 60 are in home isolation whereas 16 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Monday, 03 persons were found positive in Cachar. The death toll in Cachar due to Covid has reached 34 this year.

As per the updated data, a total of 1,594 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 08 persons were found positive, whereas 07 were detected positive out of 103 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 Jan 2022 reached 6,381 whereas during this phase, 6,271 patients were discharged. There has been a gradual decline in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 7 February to 5 PM on 8 February) witnessed the death of 01 more Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Tuesday evening.

The deceased was identified as:

  • Kishore Chakraborty (43) from Tarapur, Silchar tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH on 5 February, 2022. The patient, however, breathed his last at 6 AM on 8 February, 2022. The patient was suffering from septicemia and Acute respiratory distress syndrome.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 8 February, there was only 01 Covid-19 active patient at Silchar Medical College. In the last 24 hours, no Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH but 2 were discharged. No patient was detected positive in RAT at SMCH but 02 found positive in RTPCR on Tuesday.
