15 more COVID-19 positive cases detected in Hailakandi; tally rises to 318
Administration decides to close down barber shops, weekly markets
3 July: 15 more COVID-19 novel coronavirus positive cases have been detected in Hailakandi district on Friday, taking the total tally to 318, including two deaths. Following the spike in number of COVID-19 positive cases, the district administration has decided to close down all barber shops (salons) and weekly markets with immediate effect until further orders.
Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Chief Executive Officer, District Disaster Management Authority, RK Dam informed that steps have been taken to shut down salons and weekly markets to arrest the spread of the disease. He further stated that all the owners and employees of barber shops would have to undergo swab tests and would have to remain in self-isolation till the swab results are out.
The decision to close down barber shops was taken after a barber named Dejou Chanda, 51, tested COVID-19 positive on Friday. The administration has urged the people who went to the barber’s shop at Algapur market in the past 14-15 days to report to the Algapur Model Hospital for swab test at 10 am on Saturday. It may be mentioned that a nurse and a policeman were found COVID-19 positive a couple of days ago.
Health authorities here revealed that Aminul Hoque Mazumder, 19, Dilwar Hussain Laskar, 19, Saha Alom Laskar, 22, Mojnu Muhan Das, 40, Moina Mia Barlaskar, 48, Aktar Hussain Laskar, 60, Dejou Chanda, 51, Somirun Nessa, 30, Fakrul Islam Laskar, 24, Jamil Ahmed Barbhuiya, 23, Manik Basumatari, 33, Nishi Kanta Das, 56, Niraj Kumar, 44, Asraful Alom Barbhuiya, 26 and Md.Afjol Hussain Mazumder, 26, have all turned out to be positive.Of the 15 infected, three were under institutional quarantine facility at Polytechnic, two at Aloo Gudam
under Ward I of Hailakandi municipal area, one at Samarikona, one at Chandipur-Baghmara, one at Swapanpur, two at Extension Training Centre quarantine Centre, one at ITI quarantine centre, two at HPC Guest House quarantine centre, one at Railway Guest House quarantine centre and one at Panchagram, Kalinagar. All have been shifted to three hospitals here.
Two COVID-19 positive patients viz., Mangoli Rani Das, 53, and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, breathed their last at SMC&H. 221 persons on being cured have been released from hospitals. There are 80 active cases, as per health bulletin released on Thursday evening. 33 patients are undergoing treatment at SK Roy designated COVID-19 Civil Hospital, 24 at MG Model Hospital, nine at SMC&H and 29 at Algapur Model Hospital.
Of the 8,453 swab samples taken so far, 6,779 turned out to be negative, as per health bulletin released on Thursday evening. Results of 1,208 swab samples are awaited. 1,079 persons are under facility quarantine centres while 3,968 persons under home quarantine.
