15 candidates expelled on 1st day of HSLC Exam at Hailakandi

February 14: Board of Secondary Education (SEBA), Assam conducted High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Assam High Madrassa (AHM) examinations has commenced from Thursday. In Hailakandi district alone, 7,002 candidates are appearing in the HSLC and AHM examinations in all the 16 examination centres. Tight security measures has been adopted by the district administration for the smooth conduct of this examination.

However, on the very first day of the HSLC/AHM examinations, as many as 15 candidates were expelled in Hailakandi district for adopting unfair means. It was English exam on Thursday. The expelled candidates belong to Public HS School (5 students), Sanarei Mitei HS School (5 students), Algapur Public HS School (2 students), Janaki Charan HS School (1 student), Chalmars HS School (1 student) and Hailakandi Town High Madrassa (1 student).

Inspector of schools of the district, Rajiv Kumar Jha has informed this. As regards security measures, he informed that Section 144 was imposed within a 200 metre radius in all the 16 examination centres. Three flying squads have been formed together with a control room to keep a tab on the activities during the examinations and to initiate appropriate action. Further, 21 persons were engaged as supervising officers.

In Assam, a total of 3,52, 143 candidates will appear in the exam from different centres in Assam. For the first time, the bar code was introduced in the answer sheets. The students were allowed to use only black pens while writing their papers. Flying squads were deployed in the “sensitive” centres and CCTV cameras were also installed in all the centres. The HSLC examinations will conclude on March 6th, 2019 and is held in as many as 857 centres.
