149 tests Covid +ve in Karimganj on Friday, 49 discharged & 2 deaths including a 3-month baby
The district has currently 1,049 active COVID-19 cases
May 28: Karimganj registered 149 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday. Of the 149 active cases detected on Friday, 141 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test and 08 under RT-PCR. The district has currently 1,949 active COVID-19 cases, while 49 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Friday. 2,931 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 123 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Thursday.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 27 May to 5 PM on 28 May) witnessed demise of 10 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 10 deceased, 05 are from Cachar district, 03 from Karimganj & 02 from Hailakandi. The 02 deceased from Karimganj were identified as:
- Dhirendra Chandra Das (72) from Majpara in Karimganj district took admission at SMCH on 23 May. He expired at 6.24 PM on 27 May.
- Tanvir Jaman (03 months) from Ashimganj in Karimganj district got admitted at SMCH in the morning on 28 May. The baby finally lost its life at 2.30 PM on 28 May.
