147 tests Covid positive in Cachar on Friday, 291 discharged & 2 deaths at SMCH

There are 643 active cases in Cachar

Jan. 28: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually decreasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Friday at 7.30 PM. As per the latest data, a total of 147 persons were found positive in the district on 28 January. Also, 291 patients were discharged (281 from home & 10 from hospital) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has come down to 643 out of which, 558 are in home isolation whereas 85 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Thursday,128 persons were found positive in Cachar.

As per the updated data, a total of 2,161 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 129 persons were found positive, whereas 18 were detected positive out of 323 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 Jan 2022 reached 6,002 whereas during this phase, 5,334 patients were discharged. This data was provided by the district health department from 12 noon of 27 January to 12 noon of 28 January, 2022. There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 27 January to 5 PM on 28 January) witnessed the death of 02 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Friday evening.

The deceased were identified as:

  • Bidhan Chandra Nath (65) from 2nd Link Road, Silchar tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH on 24 January. The patient, however, breathed his last at 10.10 PM on 27 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from dame of brain due to kidney failure, Ischemia hear disease & CKD.
  • Bhusontoi Reang (32) from Katlicherra in Hailakandi district was admitted at SMCH at 12.22 PM on 28 January. The patient, however, breathed his last at 2.30 PM on the same day, that is, 28 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from multiple injuries due to road traffic accident.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 28 January, there were 16 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 05 patients were put under ventilator support, and 12 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 03 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 02 were discharged. A total of 20 patients were detected positive in RAT at SMCH and 06 in RTPCR on Friday. Majority of them detected positive on Friday opted for home isolation.
