ওয়েটুবরাক, ১৭ সেপ্টেম্বর: আজ শিল্পের দেবতা বিশ্বকর্মার পুজো। দেশের বেশ কয়েকটি রাজ্য বিশেষ করে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ, আসাম, ত্রিপুরা, কর্ণাটক, উত্তর প্রদেশ, ঝাড়খন্ড, বিহার এবং ওড়িশায় ধর্মীয় আচার অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্য দিয়ে এই পুজো অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। প্রতি বছরই আজকের দিনে অর্থাৎ ১৭ সেপ্টেম্বর এই পূজা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়ে থাকে। এই দিনটিকে বিশ্বকর্মার জন্মদিন হিসেবে পালন করা হয়। পৌরাণিক বিশ্বাস অনুযায়ী, দেবশিল্পী বিশ্বকর্মা প্রাসাদ, ভবন, অস্ত্রশস্ত্র ইত্যাদি দেবতাদের জন্য তৈরি করেছিলেন। এছাড়া তাঁকে বাস্তুশাস্ত্রের দেবতা এবং প্রথম ইঞ্জিনিয়ার হিসেবেও গণ্য করা হয়। পুরাণ অনুযায়ী, বিশ্বকর্মা পুরীর জগন্নাথ মন্দিরে পূজিত জগন্নাথ, সুভদ্রা এবং বলরামের মূর্তি তৈরি করেছিলেন। ভক্তরা এও বিশ্বাস করেন যে, তিনি সত্যযুগে স্বর্গলোক, ত্রেতাযুগে লঙ্কা এবং দ্বাপর যুগে ভগবান কৃষ্ণের নগরী দ্বারকা তৈরি করেন।

মন্ডন সুত্রধারে বিশ্বকর্মার রূপ বর্ণনা পাওয়া যায়। এতে বিশ্বকর্মার চার হাতে পুস্তক, অক্ষমালা, শঙ্খ এবং কমণ্ডলু শোভা পাচ্ছে। তিনি ত্রিনেত্রযুক্ত এবং হংস বাহনারূঢ়। কিন্তু আজকাল আমরা বিশ্বকর্মার হাতে হাতুড়ি, বিভিন্ন যন্ত্র, কাস্তে সহ তাঁকে গজপৃষ্ঠে আরোহন করানো হচ্ছে। যুগের সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়ে তাঁকে শ্রমজীবী মানুষের প্রতিনিধি হিসেবেও কল্পনা করা হচ্ছে।

এদিকে, বিশ্বকর্মা পুজো প্রতি বছর একই দিনে অনুষ্ঠিত হওয়ার কারণ হল, সূর্যের গতিপ্রকৃতির ওপর এই পুজোর দিন স্থির হয়। সূর্য সিংহ রাশি থেকে কন্যা রাশিতে যাওয়ার সময় উত্তরায়ন হয়। সে সময় দেবতারা জেগে উঠে বিশ্বকর্মা পুজোর আয়োজন করেন।

কিন্তু হিন্দুদের অন্য সব দেব-দেবীর পূজা স্থির হয় চাঁদের গতিপ্রকৃতির ওপর৷ অর্থাৎ চান্দ্রপঞ্জিকা অনুযায়ী সব দেবদেবীর পূজার তিথি স্থির হয়ে থাকে। তবে বিশ্বকর্মা পুজোর দিনটি নির্ধারিত হয়েছে ভাদ্র মাসের শেষ তারিখে।

আজকের দিনে স্থাপত্যবিদ, ইঞ্জিনিয়ার, মেকানিক্স বা কারখানার কর্মীরা তাদের কাজকর্ম বন্ধ রেখে দেবশিল্পী বিশ্বকর্মা ও তাঁর বাহন হাতিকে আরাধনা করেন। এ দিন বিভিন্ন কারখানা ও কার্যালয়ের মেশিন ও যন্ত্রপাতি পরিস্কার-পরিচ্ছন্ন করে পুজো করার রেওয়াজও রয়েছে। অন্তত একদিনের জন্য এই সব মেশিন ও যন্ত্রপাতিকে বিরাম দেওয়া হয়।

বরাক উপত্যকার বিভিন্ন সরকারি-বেসরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানে দেবশিল্পী বিশ্বকর্মা পুজোর আয়োজন করা হয়। আজ জল সরবরাহ প্রকল্প, বিদ্যুৎ বিভাগ, অগ্নি নির্বাপন কেন্দ্র, পুরসভা কার্যালয়, বিভিন্ন পত্রিকা প্রতিষ্ঠানে, দোকানপাটে পুজোর আয়োজন করে৷

way2barak, Sept 17: Vishwakarma was worshiped on 17 September. Vishwakarma Puja, marks the birth anniversary of Hindu God Vishwakarma. He is called the Devshilpi, or architect of the gods and legends say that it was him, who built the holy city of Dwarka. He is also considered to be the creator of Swarglok in Satya Yug, Lanka in Treta Yug. According to a legend, the idols of Balabhadra, Subhadra and Lord Jagannath that are worshipped in the famous Puri temple in Odisha were also created by Vishwakarma.A white swan is believed to be his ride. Every year, Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated on September 17.

The festival is widely celebrated in West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. People conduct puja at their factories. Engineers, architects, artisans and mechanics pray to Lord Vishwakarma for a better future. He is also called God of Machines, Engineer of the Gods, the First Engineer. It is believed that he was born as a result of Samudra Manthan. Machines are worshipped as a personification of the Lord.

Along with the rest of the country, people in Barak Valley too dipped in festive fervour starting from the morning today as various industrial houses, offices and technical organisations worshipped Vishwakarma with much devotion. Known as the God of Architecture and Engineering, Lord Vishwakarma is being worshipped both inside the premises of offices and organisations as well as on the street pandals across the valley by the devotees.

The puja which brings a very special occasion to the technical and engineering establishments, witnessed staff of these organisations taking a break from their hectic work schedule for the day to take part in religious activity. In Barak Valley, many government and private enterprises remained closed. Lord Viswawakarma was worshipped with full religious fervor.

The outbreak of coronavirus pandemic compelled the government to impose various restrictions in the celebration of Viswakarma Puja during the last 2 years. However, this year, Viswakarma puja was celebrated with pomp and splendour, and the devotees immersed themselves in worshiping the Devshilpi, or architect of the gods.
