139 idols of Devi Durga immersed in Silchar on 15 Oct, 75 more to take place on 16 Oct
Total of 214 idols to be immersed at Sadarghat on 15 & 16 October
Oct. 15: In pursuance of Govt. order issued from Health & Family Welfare Department and for smooth completion of immersion of Durga Idol, immersion slot was prepared in respect of immersion ghat at Sadar Ghat, Silchar. The immersion ceremony has been spread across two days in Silchar- on 15 & 16 October. On the first day, (15 October), a total of 139 idols of Devi Durga were immersed at Sadar Ghat, Silchar, out of which, 55 idols belonged to private residence/ family, while the rest 84 were from Mandir/ Barwari Puja committees.
The idol immersion on the day of Bijaya Dashami got over by 11 PM at Sadar Ghat. No untoward incidents were reported during the immersion and it was a hassle-free affair. However, though the SOP issued by the state government stated that no procession should take place during idol immersion, but people in large numbers were seen to wait with enthusiasm on both sides of the streets in Silchar to catch a glimpse of the idol immersion ceremony.
“Thank you for a safe incident free successful Visarjan. Shubo Vijaya,” wrote Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar in her social media page while expressing joy for a hassle-free idol immersion in connection with Durga Puja, 2021. She further greeted all, “Shubo Vijaya” on this auspicious occasion. Clad in a traditional Bengali saree, the Deputy Commissioner was present in the immersion ghat on Friday along with Police Super Ramandeep Kaur and other administrative officials.
