1317 tests +ve in Assam on Sunday, state tally rises to 76,875

August 16: On Sunday, 1317 tested positive in Assam. With this, 76,875 persons in the state were infected by coronavirus, out of which, 23,397 are active cases. Moreover, during the day, another 7 persons died due to COVID-19, thereby taking the death tally to 189. On Sunday, Cachar district registered 161 positive cases. In a tweet, State health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Alert ~ 1317 #COVID cases detected today out of 20367 tests done in last 24 hours Positivity Rate- 6.46% Kamrup (M)- 233, Cachar- 161, Dibrugarh- 133.”
