Inaugural ceremony of Swachhata Hi Seva 2019 held in Hailakandi

September 20: The District Level inauguration of Swachhata Hi Seva 2019 campaign was held at Dr Shashi Bhushan Institute of Education, Boalipar on Thursday. The  Swachhata Hi Seva 2019 campaign was organized by DWSC Hailakandi Division.

This year’s campaign concentrated on banning single-use plastics. An oath was taken by participants that included students, NGOs, Swacchagrahis etc. not to use ‘single use plastics’ and to minimize use of plastics to prevent health issues and prohibit environmental pollution.

Speaking during the occasion, J.Keerthi, Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi laid emphasis on the importance of preserving our rich ecology by minimising use of plastics. She asked students to reduce use of plastics in our day-to-day activities. She urged upon the audience to avoid use of straws, bags etc and replace it with eco-friendly substitutes.
