Recruitment test centre shifted from Silchar to Guwahati, local organisation gives memorandum to Director ONGC

July 11: In the early part of 2019, ONGC had advertised in local dailies for recruitment of staff in Class III & IV grades. It was also notified that the written test for the said posts would be held at NIT Silchar from 14 to 19 June, 2019. As such, the willing and eligible candidates applied for these posts in the hope of appearing in the recruitment test from Silchar centre. However, surprisingly, the test venue was suddenly withdrawn from Silchar and shifted to Guwahati. This will be a great hindrance on the way of the unemployed youth of Barak Valley to travel at Guwahati for appearing in the interview. This was alleged by an organisation under the name and style Digital Sanatan Seba Shikkha, Silchar.

In this regard, the organisation addressed a memorandum to the Director (HR). ONGC, New Delhi. A delegation comprising of the President, Secretary and other office bearers of Digital Sanatan Seba Shikkha sent the memorandum through the Assets Manager, ONGC, Silchar on Tuesday.

In the said memorandum, they highlighted that usually during the month of June, due to excessive rainfall, road and rail communication gets severed from Silchar to Guwahati. As such, it would be nearly impossible for the candidates of this valley to appear in the interview at Guwahati in case of such a natural calamity. Moreover, they also mentioned that it will be difficult on the part of the unemployed youth to manage a handsome amount of money which will be required for traveling and staying at Guwahati.

On such grounds, they made a fervent appeal to the ONGC authorities to reconsider their decision and allow the youth of this valley to appear in the recruitment test from Silchar centre. Later on speaking to way2barak, Tapan Das, Secretary of Digital Sanatan Seba Shikkha said that they are hopeful of some positive outcome of their memorandum. Copies of the said memorandum was also forwarded to the Deputy Commissioners of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi for their perusal.
