126 villages still submerged in Cachar wherein 3,55,960 people affected: DDMA

Cachar admin continues post-flood relief measures & disposal of garbage

July 10: District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Cachar published the daily flood report till 4 pm on July 10. A total of 126 villages are still submerged in the flood water, of which a total of 3,55,960 people have been affected. These people are spread across 50,150 in Lakhipur, 78,700 in Katigorah, 2,10,938 in Silchar and 16,172 in Sonai revenue circle.

According to the daily report by DDMA, a total of 36,072 people are taking shelter in 79 relief camps in the district, out of which 3,442 people are in 30 relief camps in Katigorah, 32,197 people in 40 relief camps in Silchar and 433 people in 9 relief camps in Lakhipur.

Meanwhile, garbage collection process is going on in all municipal wards of Silchar . On Sunday , dumped garbage was cleared from Gopinath Point, Chandicharan Road, Das Colony, Lucky Filter Point as garbage disposal vehicles were arranged by Silchar Municipal Board (SMB) and Executive Magistrates were monitoring the garbage disposal process in the town.

Repairing work has also been done to strengthen the pavement at Sonabarighat Breach Point of NH-306. As reported, there is no traffic jam and vehicles are running smoothly without any hassle and jolt.
Maintenance work will be carried out from time to time and post-flood prevention operations were carried out under the Salchapara ICDS project on Saturday.

Ramesh das and retired army personnel Ranjit das, who are differently abled requested the district administration to give tricycle for their daily work. Responding to their plea, Cachar administration took the initiative and sent the DDRC team to his house and also started the process of issuing disability certificate, Dibyang pension etc. The mobile medical unit is also made operational at GC College relief camp and is providing night shift health services.
