125 found COVID+ve in Cachar on Friday, 15 patients critical at SMCH
August 21: On Friday, a total of 125 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Cachar district. Out of the 125 new cases of novel coronavirus, 90 of them were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas, 35 tested positive in RT-PCR Test (1st slot). Till 7 PM on Friday, 1063 rapid tests were done in the district. The district further registered 3 more deaths of coronavirus patients. As the results of some more slots are awaited, so the total number may rise at night. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert.
In Cachar, a total of 5160 positive cases were registered till now. 3013 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged, whereas, there are 2004 active cases. The district recorded 19 deaths due to COVID-19.
Further, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) informed that at present, 15 COVID-19 positive patients are in a critical stage and are undergoing treatment. He added that at present, 16 corona positive patients are there in the ICU of SMCH and 2 were put in ventilator. A total of 256 positive patients are now admitted at SMCH, out of which, 156 are male and 100 of them are female.
In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test results, 35 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive on Friday. Out of the 35 cases, 05 of them exhibited Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms and were then detected as positive. They are a 71-year-old man from Athalikandi in Cachar who is presently admitted at SMCH, 45-year-old female from bekirpar, 53-year-old male from 1st BN BSF Dholcherra, 40-year-male from Silchar central Jail and 60-year-old male from Shivalik Park.
Apart from them,12 positive cases were found who came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed cases. They are 27-year-old female from Niz Fulbari-I, 43-year-old male from College Road, 50-year-old female from College Road, 52-year-old male also from College Road, 35-year-old female from Kanakpur Pt-II, 52-year-old female from Park Road (Opposite Tennis Club), 40-year-old male from G.C.College, 41-year-old male from Berenga-II, 26-year-old male (Health Care Worker) from near DRDA Office CISF Campus, Silchar, 39-year-old GMC Road, Silchar and 72-year-old female District Training Centre, Agril Campus, Meherpur.
Another 02 cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) were found during the day. They are 70-year-old female from College Road and 45-year-old female from Kathal Point Cachar. A 22-year pregnant female in near labour from Kalibarichar was also found positive during the day.
Two more persons were tested positive vide Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme (ATSP). They are a 60-year-old female from Ramnagar and a 47-year-old female from 2nd Link Road.
Finally, another 12 persons were detected positive on Friday, but their source of infection was not mentioned in the SRF. These 12 patients are 45-year-old male who is from Home Guard Office, 35-year-old female from Tarapur Shib Bari, 52-year-male from 01 BN BSF Dholcherra, 48-year-old female Dinonathpur in Bihara Outpost, 38 years old female from Tarapur New Colony, 48 years old male from near DRDA Office, CISF Campus, Silchar, 23 years old male also from near DRDA Office, CISF Campus, Silchar. 59 years old male from Club Road, 70 years old from Subhas Nagar, 35 years old female also from Subhas Nagar, 58-year-old female from Silchar and a 11 days old baby from Kumbhirgram.
