123 tests Covid +ve in Karimganj on Thursday, 12 discharged & 1 death registered

May 27: Karimganj registered 123 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday. Of the 123 active cases detected on Thursday, 111 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test and 12 under RT-PCR. The district has currently 953 active COVID-19 cases, while 12 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Thursday. 2,798 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 126 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Wednesday. With this, the total positive cases detected in Karimganj since 1 March, 2021 stands at 2,930, whereas, 1,950 patients were discharged.

Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours witnessed demise of 08 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 08 deceased, 06 are from Cachar district, 01 from Karimganj & 01 from Hailakandi.

The deceased from Karimganj was identified as Shimul Dey (55) who took admission at SMCH on 27 May. The patient died at 2 AM on 27 May.
