120 detected Covid positive in Cachar on Monday, 1 death registered at SMCH

Active cases 399 in Cachar

Jan. 10: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually increasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Monday at 5.20 PM. As per the latest data, the daily Covid count in Cachar crossed the 100-mark. A total of 120 persons were found positive in the district on 10 January. Also, 01 patient was discharged (none from hospital & 01 from home) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 399, out of which, 319 are in home isolation whereas 80 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Sunday, 97 persons were found positive in Cachar.

As per the updated data, a total of 797 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 53 persons were found positive, whereas 67 were detected positive out of 382 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 21,013 whereas during this phase, 20,393 patients were discharged. This data was provided by the district health department from 12 noon of 9 January to 12 noon of 10 January, 2022.

There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 9 January to 5 PM on 10 January) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Monday evening.

Subir Chakraborty (69) from Das Colony, Silchar was referred from Green Heals Hospital to SMCH at 5.45 PM on 9 January, 2022 in an unconscious state. He was suffering from diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney  disease and history of fall. The patient was immediately admitted in Covid ICU at SMCH. The patient, however, died at 11.35 AM on 10 January, 2022.

Prior to this, two patients Maya Rani Kurmi (63) died at SMCH and Mira Chowdhury (84) died at Green Heals Hospital due to Covid-19 on 7 January, 2022.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 10 January, there were 22 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 01 patient was put under ventilator support, and 05 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 06 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 14 were discharged. Further, 18 patients were shifted to Covid Care Centre.
