1178 tests positive in Assam on Sunday, tally reaches 42,904

August 2: On Sunday, 1178 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Assam. With this, Assam registered a total of 42,904 coronavirus cases as of now. With four more fatalities in the state, the state’s death tally went upto 105. In a tweet on Sunday night, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Alert ~ 1178 new #COVID19 cases detected out of 19943 tests conducted in last 24 hrs. We have been able to maintain a low positivity rate consistently (today- 5.91%) Kamrup (M): 268.”
