117 tests Covid +ve in Hailakandi on Wednesday, 51 discharged, 1 death registered

May 12: Hailakandi registered 117 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Of the 117 positive cases detected on Wednesday, 101 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 16 found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 538 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 855 RAT tests and 52 RT-PCR tests were done. 51 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that 101 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Tuesday.

Wednesday witnessed demise of three more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Out of the 3 deceased at SMCH on 12 May, 2 are from Karimganj district, while 01 is from Hailakandi. The deceased from Hailakandi was identified as:

• Md Nazim Uddin Barbhuiyan (69) from Ward No 3 in Hailakandi was admitted at SMCH on 11 May. He, however, died at 1.15 AM on 12 May, 2021.

The detailed death reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol.
