1,168 land allotment certificates distributed in Hailakandi
Jan.24: Synchronising with the land patta distribution by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Sivasagar, 1,168 land allotment certificates were given away to indigenous people of the district here on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner, Megh Nidhi Dahal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, RK Dam, CEO, Zila Parishad, Joydeep Shukla and other dignitaries ceremonially handed over 200 land allotment certificates to indigenous landless families of the district at a function held at Rabindra Bhawan auditorium here. With the new land allotment certificates, the total number has gone up to 2,017.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Dahal said the land rights given to the indigenous landless people by the present state government have given them a new identity. “The very existence of people has no meaning whatsoever unless they have rights on their land. The land allotment certificates to the landless indigenous people will go a long way in protecting their identity,” quipped Dahal.
Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dam explained the objective of the programme. The function was attended by Circle Officers and prominent citizens Hirokjyoti Chakraborty, Kshtish Ranjan Paul, Kamrul Islam Barbhuiya, Narayan Debnath and Sandipon Paul.
