116 persons test Covid-19 +ve in Cachar till 6 PM on Friday, 4 deaths at SMCH
08 air passengers detected positive on Friday
May 14: A total of 116 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Friday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 98 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT), whereas 18 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Friday evening.
Further, during the day, 190 air passengers arrived at Silchar Airport, who did Covid test at Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital, Tikal, wherein 08 of them were found positive. It needs mention here that on Thursday, 398 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar.
Dr. Bhaskar Gupta further informed that a total of 189 active coronavirus patients are admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), out of which, 102 of them are in Covid ward and 87 at ICU. Out of them 96 patients are in oxygen support and 13 are in ventilation. In last 24 hours, 17 new patients were admitted whereas, 10 of them were discharged at SMCH.
Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. Friday witnessed demise of 04 more Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board as per the protocol. Out of the 04 deceased at SMCH on 14 May, 03 of them are from Cachar district, while 01 of them is from Karimganj district. The 04 deceased were identified as Gita Dhar (55) from Patharkandi in Karimganj, Ronendra Roy (51) from Dolu, Kalinagar in Cachar, Sikha Bhattacharjee (55) from Katigorah in Cachar and Monoranjan Das (55) from Kalain in Cachar.
