1123 persons detected positive on Sunday in Assam, total now 58,837

August 8: On Sunday, 1123 persons were detected COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the total number of cases has gone upto 58,837, out of which, 18,098 are active. However, the numbers reduced drastically on Sunday. On Saturday, the total number of infected persons were 2218.

On Sunday, 5 more patients succumbed to COVID-19, thereby taking the death tally of the state to 145. Assam registered another 5 cases of COVID-19 deaths on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Rafiq Ali (66) and Mahendra Deka (90) from Kamrup Rural; Ramapati Devi (60) from Morigaon; Gobinda Das (32) from Tinsukia and Rijumoni Gohain (47) from Dibrugarh.

State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma.in a tweet wrote, “Alert ~ 1123 COVID cases detected out of 24492 tests in last 24 hrs. Positivity rate- 4.58% Kamrup (M)- 240 Jorhat- 121.”
