11 years old Dhanakshi Saha of Silchar selected to play at national level Table Tennis championship in Madhya Pradesh
Jan. 1: Young players of Table Tennis players are earning wide fame for Silchar. A few days ago, Akshita Roy of Silchar bagged the prestigious under-11 title in the R G Baruah State Ranking Table Tennis Championship, which was held in Guwahati. Akshita Roy is a player of Table Tennis Club, Udharbond. Now, another little girl, 11 years old Dhanakshi Saha of Saha is also set to make her town and the Table Tennis Club, Udharbond proud once again.
Dhanakshi Saha (11) has been selected to play at the national level Table Tennis championship to be held at Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Dhanakshi recently returned from All Assam Ranking championship and Inter- District competition.She has secured for her 5th rank in Assam in her category. Finally, Dhanakshi has now got the opportunity to step into the arena of national level competition.
Daughter of Debasish Saha and Jhumki Saha, Dhanakshi got initiated into the world of table tennis in the year 2018. Due to the efforts of her grandfather Shyamal Paul, she started learning table tennis at United Club under the guidance of Nitai Paul. At that time, her grandfather was the Secretary of United Club. After a year’s training at United Club, Dhanakshi participated at the 1st inter- district competition of her life at Jorhat in 2020.
In order to avail more specialised training, Dhanakshi Saha was admitted at Table Tennis Club, Udharbond. Since then, she has been a regular student of TT Club, Udharbond under the able of guidance of renowned coach Partha Pratim Deb. Mr Deb also provides private coaching to Dhanakshi at the house of her sister Sunanda Paul. There she learnt the art of the game along with Jashraj Paul, the son of Sunanda Paul. Apart from Partha Pratim Deb, two other senior players Shankar and Subho also guided Dhanakshi.
During the Covid induced lockdown, coach Partha Pratim Deb provided training to Dhanakshi at his own house almost for a month. Later on, at the direction of her coach, Dhanakshi got admitted at a private coaching centre in Guwahati, named SK TT centre, where she took training for almost two months.
Expressing her views, Dhanakshi Saha said, “I am greatful to all my gurus of Table Tennis for whom today I will be able to play in a national level championship in indore.” Her parents also expressed their gratitude to all coaches who have all these years trained Dhanakshi with utmost care and patience.
It needs mention here that Dhanakshi Saha is the niece of most popular singer Debojit Saha, who had in the past earned the title of ‘Voice of India’ in a reality show competition organised by Zee Tv.
