109 tests +ve in Cachar on Saturday
Sept. 5: On Saturday, 109 persons tested COVID-19 positive in Cachar district. Out of the 109 new cases, 101 were detected positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and the rest 08 of them were found positive in RT-PCR Test. During the day, 1397 Rapid Antigen tests were done in Cachar.This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday late evening.
Suman Choudhury further informed that the ward-wise screening centres in Silchar Municipal area will be discontinued from now. He said, “We received a very poor response at these 28 screening centres within the SIlchar town area. From now onwards COVID test can be done only Holy Cross School, Teachers Training College, Urban PHC and ISBT. The centres opened in the municipal wards will be discontinued.” He further said that till now, under the door-to-door campaign of detecting fever, 5,675 houses were covered. He added, “But unfortunately none came forward voluntarily and declared that they are suffering from fever or cold, when our teams reached their houses. In certain cases, many people refrained from coming out of their houses when our team went there. Some of them also exhibited rough behaviour with the mobile teams. As such, we have also decided to discontinue the door-to-door survey.”
Further, during the routine briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) said that at present there are 177 active cases of novel coronavirus at SMCH. Out of them, 16 of them are in ICU, 2 in ventilator and 48 being administered oxygen. At present, the condition of 22 COVID-19 patients are critical. As of now, 74 persons have donated plasma at SMCH, which was given to 135 patients. In the last 24 hours, 1 person died at SMCH.
In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test results, 04 persons were found positive. They are a 32-year-old female from Gunomoyee Road, Tarapur. She came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. Another 75-year-old female from Shib Bari Road, Tarapur was also detected positive. A 39-year-old male from Basangon in Cachar was found positive. However, their source of getting infected was not mentioned in the SRF. The last one in this slot is a 25 years old health worker from Kajidahar Part III who is a staff of Covid Testing Laboratory, VRDL, SMCH.
In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test results, none from Cachar was found positive. However, in the 3rd slot of RT-PCR test results, 04 more persons were detected as COVID-19 positive on Saturday in Cachar. They are a 22-year-old pregnant woman from Malugram who is at present admitted at SMCH. A 39-year-old male from 61 BN BSF Dholcherra with ILI symptoms was also tested positive during the day. The last 2 cases in the slot are patients at Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (CCHRC), Meherpur. Out of the two, one of them is a 30 years old male from Sonai and the other is a 34 years old male from Chandinagar Part-II. Both of them are now at CCHRC.
