100 students from Assam including 2 from Silchar evacuated from war torn Ukraine

March 6: With Russian attack on Ukraine, the later has closed its airspace making evacuation of the nationals from different countries difficult. It is in this backdrop that countries like India are trying alternative routes of evacuation. Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed on Sunday that six more students of the state who got stuck in Ukraine were successfully evacuated.

Among the six evacuees of Assam, 2 are from Silchar, 1 each from Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Dhubri and Nagaon. They were identified as Sneha Deka (Guwahati), Mumshad Hujaef Uddin Ahmed (Nagaon), Ananya Das (Dibrugarh), Udit Bhattacharjee (Silchar), Devangan Barman (Silchar) & Ahmed Nur Emrul Kayes (Dhubri).

Altogether 100 students from Assam studying in Ukraine have been evacuated, stated Dr Sarma. The students were received today by officials of Assam Bhawan, New Delhi, where they will stay until their return tickets to Guwahati are arranged by the state government.
