1 more death at SMCH on Tuesday

August 25: Since the last few days, Barak Valley witnessed many deaths due to COVID-19. The procession of death continued unabated in the valley with Cachar leading the tally. The twitter handle of NHM, Assam informed that there were 02 Covid deaths in Cachar and 01 in Karimganj on Tuesday. However, on Tuesday, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) informed about only 1 death.

The deceased was identified as Biswajit Paul (65) from Lakhipur in Cachar district. After testing positive, he was admitted at SMCH on 24 April. He breathed his last at 7.30 AM on 27 April. He said, “Inspite of all the best efforts, the man could not be saved.” Dr Gupta informed that that the case has been referred to State Death Audit Board.
