1 more Covid +ve patient die at SMCH on 7 January, 2 in ventilator support

Jan. 7: There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 6 january to 5 PM on 7 January) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Friday evening.

The deceased identified as Maya Rani Kurmi (63) from Cachar tested RT-PCR positive on 1 January. She was subsequently admitted at SMCH on 2 January. The patient, however, breathed her last at 8.45 AM on 7 January, 2022. The patient was also suffering from diabetes, chronic kidney disease, hypertension and was on cardia pacemaker.

It needs mention here that the last patient who died due to coronavirus at SMCH was Rajendra Das (52) from Ambicapatty. He died on 28 December, 2021.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 07 January, there were 25 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 02 patients were put under ventilator support, and 05 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 30 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 03 were discharged. Further, 18 patients were shifted to Covid Care Centre.
