1 arrested in connection with firing incident at Berenga in Cachar

Aug. 21: After more than a week’s search, police nabbed one person in connection with firing incident that took place at Berenga in Cachar on 13 August. The arrested accused was identified as Kayesh Laskar, S/O Alauddin Laskar, an inhabitant of Berenga Part-II. As per reports, it was alleged that Alauddin Laskar and his son Kayesh Laskar opened fire at one Nazim Hussain Barbhuiya at Berenga on 13 August. Following which, an FIR was lodged at Silchar Sadar Police Station by Berenga Gaon Panchayat President, Sabina Yasmin Barbhuiya, who also happens to be the wife of Nazim Hussain.

Acting on the FIR, police jumped into investigation. However, the accused father-son duo absconded. Since then, police were trying all possible means to nab the duo. The cops even tried to trace their location by tracing their mobile phones. Meanwhile, on Thursday, on the basis of a secret information, police arrested 2 persons from Sonai who gave shelter to one of the accused Alauddin Laskar. However, when the police raided the house at Sonai, Alauddin had escaped.

On Saturday, Alauddin’s son Kayesh Laskar was arrested by Dibrugarh Police. After nabbing Kayesh Laskar, the Cachar Police was intimated. Police is still on the look out of Alauddin Laskar. Meanwhile, wife of Alauddin Laskar, Ratna Begum has also lodged a counter FIR at Silchar Sadar Police station, wherein she has alleged that Nazim Hussain Barbhuiya opened fire at her husband and soon. Police is investigating both the angles in this firing incident.
