05 tests Covid +ve in Hailakandi on Monday, 13 discharged & 1 death reported

The district has altogether 99 active COVID-19 cases

July 5: Hailakandi registered 05 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. Of the 05 positive cases detected on Monday, 04 of them have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 01 person was detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 99 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,631 RAT tests and 299 RT-PCR tests were done. 13 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,547 (both 1st & 2nd wave).  As of now, a total of 4,026 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 05 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Sunday. Till date 47 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district.

Though the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam has considerably decreased, yet incidents of death of Covid positive patients are still reported from the three districts of Southern Assam. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 4 July to 5 PM on 5 July) witnessed demise of 04 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the four deceased, two of them are from Cachar, one from Hailakandi and another one from Karimganj. The deceased from Hailakandi was identified as:

  • Hirendra Singha (75) from Kolarpar in Hailakandi district got admitted in SMCH on 4 July. He expired at 7 AM on 5 July.
