Debraj’s death evokes anger, road blocked, youth arrested

৫ সেপ্টেম্বরঃ ১৬ বছরের কিশোর দেবরাজ রায়ের মৃত্যুরহস্য বেরিয়ে আসেনি এখনও। স্বাভাবিক মৃত্যু না খুন, সে ধন্দও কাটেনি। পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, তদন্ত চলছে। বেসরকারি ছাত্রাবাসটির এক কিশোরকে তুলে আনা হয়েছে। জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করে তাকে আজ আদালতে পেশ করা হলে বিচারকের নির্দেশে হোমে পাঠিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে। কিন্তু একে যথাযথ অগ্রগতি বলে মনে করছেন না প্রয়াতের পরিজন ও প্রতিবেশীরা। মৃতদেহের ময়নাতদন্তের পর বাড়িঘরের নীতিনিয়ম সেরে তাঁরা বুধবার সন্ধ্যায় যখন শ্মশানঘাটে যাচ্ছিলেন, সে সময় অম্বিকাপট্টিতে রাস্তা অবরোধ করেন। শববাহী গাড়িটিকে সড়কের মাঝে দাঁড় করিয়ে উভয় দিকের গাড়ি চলাচল আটকে দেওয়া হয়। দাবি ওঠে, ছাত্রাবাসের মালিককে গ্রেফতার করতে হবে। তাঁদের অভিযোগ, মালিকই ড্রাগস ব্যবসায়ী। তার ব্যবসায়িক স্বার্থেই কিশোরদের মাদকে নেশাসক্ত করা হয়।

একঘণ্টারও বেশি সময় শহরের প্রাণকেন্দ্রে অবরোধ চলায় তীব্র যানজট দেখা দেয়। ছুটে যান অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার রাকেশ রেড্ডি। তিনি আশ্বাস দেন, এই মামলায় বিন্দুমাত্র গাফিলতি হবে না। তদন্তের স্বার্থে যাকে প্রয়োজন, তাকেই তুলে আনা হবে। কারও বিরুদ্ধে সুনির্দিষ্ট তথ্য থাকলে তা পুলিশকে জানাতে অনুরোধ করেন তিনি। রেড্ডির সঙ্গে কথাবার্তার প্রেক্ষিতে রাস্তা অবরোধ প্রত্যাহার হয়। পরে দেবরাজের মৃতদেহ নিয়ে শ্মশানমুখী হন তাঁরা। এই সময়ে তার শেষকৃত্য চলছে।

উল্লেখ্য, ১৮-অনূর্ধ্ব ধৃতের নাম ছাপানো আইনসঙ্গত নয় বলে এই মামলায় ধৃতের নাম প্রকাশ করা গেল না।

September 5: The mystery of the death of 16 year old Debraj Roy has not yet been solved. Police are still in the dark whether it is an incident of murder or normal death. Police sources have said that the investigation of this case was going on.

Meanwhile, a teenager was arrested from the private hostel where Debraj’s body was recovered. After interrogation, the boy was produced in the court from where he was sent to the home as he was a juvenile. But the kith and kin of the deceased are not satisfied with the manner of investigation. On Wednesday, the dead body was taken to the home of the deceased after post-mortem. But on the way to the crematorium, the mortuary van was halted on the way to Ambicapatty point and the road was blocked on either side. Demand was raised to arrest the owner of the student’s hostel. They alleged that the owner of the house is a drug peddler who has dragged the students into the dark world of drugs.

The road blockade continued for almost an hour. As a result traffic came to a standstill. Additional Police Super Rakesh Reddy rushed to the spot. He assured the agitating public that there will be no slackness on the part of the police. The investigation is going on in proper way and few others may be called for investigation. He also urged upon the people to help the police in the process by passing any relevant information to them. Finally, after getting assurance from the Additional Police Super, the blockade was withdrawn.
