তালা খুলে দিলেন মিলনই, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ছাত্র সংসদের নতুনদের শপথ

১০ অক্টোবর: বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ছাত্র সংসদ নির্বাচনে আশানুরূপ আসন না পাওয়ায় শেষমেশ চাপে পড়ে উপাচার্যের কক্ষের তালা নিজেই খুলে দিলেন বিদায়ী সভাপতি মিলন দাস। এতে উপাচার্যের কক্ষ বন্ধ থাকায় গত কিছুদিন ধরে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় পরিচালনায় যে অসুবিধার সৃষ্টি হয়েছিল, তার নিরসন হয়েছে। এর পাশাপাশি আজ বিকেলে ছাত্র সংসদের নব নির্বাচিত প্রতিনিধিরা শপথ নিয়েছেন।

গতকালই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে নতুন ছাত্র সংসদের নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। কিন্তু এতে আশানুরূপ আসন পায়নি মিলন শিবির। ফলে খুব দ্রুত চিত্রনাট্যের বদল হয়ে যায়। সভাপতি পদে মিলন ঘনিষ্ঠ প্রার্থী অভিনন্দন মহন্ত জয়ী হলেও সাধারণ সম্পাদক পদে বিরোধী শিবিরের দেবপ্রতিম সাহা নির্বাচিত হন। এদিকে, বুধবার নতুন জিএস দেবপ্রতিম বিশাল সংখ্যাক ছাত্র নিয়ে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে হাজির হন। তারা প্রথমে উপাচার্যের কক্ষের তালা ভেঙে দিতে চায়। কিন্তু এতে পরিস্থিতি ভিন্ন দিকে মোড় নিতে পারে সন্দেহ ব্যক্ত করে অনেকেই তাকে নিরস্ত করেন। এরপর দেবপ্রতিম শিবির আজই শপথ গ্রহণ অনুষ্ঠান আয়োজনের জন্য ডিএসডব্ল্যু পিবি মজুমদারের সঙ্গে দেখা করেন। এরপরই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষ আলোচনায় বসেন। পরে কর্তৃপক্ষের সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী বিকেলেই নতুন পদাধিকারীরা শপথ নেন।

অন্যদিকে, আজ দুপুরে দেবপ্রতিম ও তার সমর্থকেরা উপাচার্যের কক্ষের তালা ভেঙে ফেলার উদ্যোগ নিলে সেখানে তড়িঘড়ি উপস্থিত হয় মিলন শিবির। একটি সূত্রে জানা গেছে, কোনও বাক্যব্যয় না করে মিলন নিজেই উপাচার্যের কক্ষের তালা খুলে দিয়েছেন। সূত্রটি এও বলেছে, দীর্ঘদিন থেকে মিলন শিবির দাবিদাওয়া নিয়ে উপাচার্যের কক্ষে তালা ঝুলিয়ে যে আন্দোলন চালিয়ে আসছিলেন, তা যদি বিরোধী শিবির ভেঙে দেয়, তা হবে তাদের জন্য অপমানজনক। আর সে জন্য তারা নিজে থেকেই তালা খুলে দিয়েছেন। এতে গত ১৩ দিন ধরে চলা অচলাবস্থারও অবসান হয়েছে। জানা গেছে, বুধবার দুপুরে উপাচার্য নিজের কক্ষে বসে কাজও করেন।

October 10: Unable to perform well in the recently concluded Assam University Students’ Union election, outgoing President Milon Das himself opened the lock of the office of the Vice Chancellor. On 28 September the students & researchers locked the room of the Vice Chancellor. As a result, Vice Chancellor Dilip Chandra Nath will be able to enter his office after 13 long days. Meanwhile, the newly elected body of the Students’ Union also took oath today.

The election to the Students’ Union of Assam University was held yesterday. However, the camp of Milon Das could not get the expected number of posts. As such, the scenario changed very fast. Although Abhinandan Mahanta, a close associate of Milon won the post of the President, but the post of General Secretary was won by Debopratim Saha who belongs to the opposite camp of Milon.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday Debopratim with a huge number of supporters went to the administrative building of the varsity to break the lock put up there by the erstwhile union led by Milon Das. However, he dropped the idea of breaking the lock when others told him that this act would take a very critical turn. After that, Debopratim and his supporters met the Dean of Students’ Welfare P.B. Majumdar and urged upon him to conduct the oath taking ceremony today. This was followed by a closed door meeting of the university officials. Later on, as per the decision of the university authorities, the oath taking ceremony was conducted today evening.

When Deboprotim and his supporters took initiative to break the lock of the room of the Vice Chancellor, Milon Das reached there hurriedly. As per a source, without uttering any words, Milon himself opened the lock of the office of the Vice Chancellor. The source aslso added that, it would have been an insult for Milon Das and his coterie, if the lock would have been broken by the newly elected body. That is why, they themselves opened the lock. With this, the long drawn agitation by the students since the last 13 days came to an end. It was learnt that Prof. Dilip Chandra Nath, the Vice Chancellor could therefore enter his office on Wednesday and do his works.
