SUCI holds protest rally at Silchar

৬ অক্টোবর : শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ সহ জেলার প্রাথমিক স্বাস্থ্য কেন্দ্রগুলোর চিকিৎসা পরিষেবার উন্নতি ও এনআরসির নামে হয়রানি বন্ধ করার দাবিতে শনিবার শিলচরে বিক্ষোভ মিছিল করে প্রতিবাদ জানাল এসইউসিআই। এ দিন দুপুরে শহরের রাঙ্গিরখাড়ি থেকে এই মিছিল বেরিয়ে প্রধান প্রধান সড়ক পরিক্রমা করে। পরে সংস্থার কাছাড় জেলা কমিটি জেলাশাসকের মাধ্যমে দেশের প্রধানমন্ত্রীর উদ্দেশে একটি স্মারকলিপি প্রদান করে।

ক্ষুদিরাম মূর্তির সামনে বিক্ষোভ সমাবেশে অংশ নিয়ে সংগঠনের নেতা অজয় রায় বলেন, বর্তমানে শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজে চিকিৎসা পরিষেবা দুর্বল হয়ে পড়েছে। বিশেষ করে কার্ডিওলজি, নিউরোলজি ও নেফ্রোলজি বিভাগের অবস্থা বেহাল হয়ে পড়েছে। আর এজন্য প্রায়ই নানা অনাকাঙখিত ঘটনার মুখোমুখি হতে হচ্ছে রোগীর নিকটাত্মীয়দের। তিনি এ ব্যাপারে রাজ্য ও কেন্দ্র সরকারের ভূমিকার কড়া সমালোচনা করেন। এর পাশাপাশি বাঙালিরা যে এনআরসি ইস্যুতে এক অনিশ্চিত ভবিষ্যতের মুখে এসে দাঁড়িয়েছেন, তাও এ দিন সংগঠনের নেতাদের মুখে ধরা পড়ে। এসইউসিআই নেতারা ডিটেনশন ক্যাম্প বন্ধ করে দেওয়ার দাবি জানান।

October 6: A protest rally was organized by SUCI on Saturday in demand of providing better treatment facilities in the primary health centres of the district and also at Silchar Medical College & Hospital. Demand was also raised to stop harassment of the common people in the name of NRC. In the afternoon, SUCI took out a rally from Rangirkhari point which then went through the heart of Silchar town and finally reached near the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. A memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister was then handed over by the district committee of SUCI to the Deputy Commissioner.

Later on participating in a demonstration near the statue of Khudiram, SUCI leader Ajoy Roy said that health services at Silchar Medical College is not upto the mark at present, especially the departments of Cardiology, Neurology and Nephrology needs revamping. The patients and their relatives suffer a lot due to lacunae of standard health facilities. In this regard, he criticized the role of the central and the state government. Apart from this, the leaders of SUCI also mentioned the various ways and means through which the Bengalis are harassed in the name of NRC. They raised a strong demand for closing down the detention camps.
