Social Distancing becomes a farce at SBI New Silchar Branch
Oct. 6: When on one hand, the district administration seems to be really worried about the crowd that would accumulate during Durga Puja, 2020; but on the other, India’s largest bank State Bank of India appeared to blatantly flout Covid protocol. On Tuesday afternoon, a huge crowd was noticed in the New Silchar Branch of State Bank of India (SBI). Neither the customers nor the SBI authorities seemed to bother about the dilution of social distancing.
When such a scene, violating COVID-19 basic protocol of ‘social distancing’ could be seen in a bank situated in the heart of Silchar town, then definitely the situation in the outskirts would be much more worst. Perhaps, the urgent need of maintaining social distancing haunted the district administration for which severe restrictions were imposed during the forthcoming Durga Puja. But at the same time, the administrative machinery should be more vigilant to check whether COVID Protocol is observed all throughout.
The incident of violating social distancing at SBI New Silchar Branch is indeed a matter of great worry. How can the Bank allow so many customers at a time inside their premises? Are they not risking the lives of many by not adhering to Covid protocol? Moreover, even the public seemed to be in a damn care mood. Public health is taken for a ride!
